A Woman
by Mary D. Turner
To know you is to admire you. Your strength, your compassion, your loyalty, your ability to love, your love for life and your gift to bring forth life. You ~who so much is demanded from, yet you who gives even more than expected. You are indeed to be  compared to a rose.

There are many flowers in a garden, but the rose stands alone. We who look, see, smell, touch and even pick of the rose. We who admire its beauty, but let us step into the garden and examine the rose. The beauty of the rose....its beauty can only be compared to the beauty of a woman.

The bud of a rose is layered with many petals to represent its complexity so is the emotions of a woman. For her love is as complex as the rose. The rose is strong for it endures many storms.

It is protected so its stem bares many thorns to shield itself. The stem of the rose is implanted in the soil, its roots buried beneath the earth to embrace life as its roots claw and stretch burying itself deeper within the soil~ clinging and embracing life to its depth.

Its stem stands firmly planted, reaching for the rays of sunlight so does the woman stand tall and strong as she embarks life's journey. Rose.... filled with many endeavors ~ highs and lows; mountains and valleys; trials and tribulations and uncertainties. Yet she stands tall and strong, loving, caring, nurturing and encouraging.

Feet planted firm, head held high, experiencing life's joys. Though she is many things to all, let us remember like the rose she is soft, gentle, sensitive, delicate and even fragile. For its life it must be nurtured and cared for, the soil tilted and shielded sometimes from even nature, so does the Woman.
